Admittedly I didn't know this was a "family" type restaurant- we visited while in the city for my daughter's birthday and she loves Italian food! The atmosphere was fun, made a reservation and were seated right away. Our waiter had just the right amount of recommended dishes and friendly service. We enjoyed our time and the food was delish! We will be back again when we're in the city!

If you are Italiano of Italian heritage and you are finicky about eating Italian food out, this is the place in New York to go. Family style servings, great southern Italian sauce and food. Delicious cannoli with a light crispy outside and a perfect tasting inside with the perfect texture. Kinda loud and busy much like an Italian Family, however service was spit in. Bravo Carmies Highly recommend

We had a big family dinner for seven and sure picked the right place. Family style entrees- veal parm, spaghetti & meatballs, amazing BIG Caesar salad with anchovies. What else? Awesome lasagna!!! It's a giant portion. Easily served 4-5. Great cocktails & friendly hard working staff. For couples... no idea how to eat here with the very large servings. Not a complaint, it's just to help folks make a plan. Excellent cocktails and glasses of wine. Good list.

The food here is outstanding! All dishes are served family style. We got artichokes, stuffed garlic bread and their penne pasta in vodka sauce. We literally ate only 1/3 of each. Each of the items were enough to feed 4-6 adults. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly. However they are very busy so the services might take longer during busy dining hours. You should reserve your table in advance, a few days before, especially for weekend dining. Online reservation might show that the reservation might be full, but when you call in, they might have a few availablility. So don't give up on making a reservation. Thank you Carmine's for a great dining experience.

Great Italian food with massive portions. Went here for a friends birthday dinner. We got 3 dishes for 9 people. We also got the cheesecake and the staff sang happy birthday. The pasta was good. Out of the three dishes we got (lasagna, penne vodka, and chicken parm) I would say the chicken parm was the best. My only complaint is the complimentary bread they served was hard and tough to eat. Overall I enjoyed the large potions and the family style dinner. 7.01 / 10

Great Italian food right in the middle of Times Square. Really convenient for meal before or after a Broadway show as most are in walking distance from the restaurant. It's really helpful to have a reservation beforehand. But even so, they are really busy most the time, and we had to wait about 30 minutes after our reservation time to get seated. Also, it took a while for us to get our food since it was so busy in the evening. Thus, it is best to plan ahead and have time to spare. This specialize in family style appetizers, entrées and desserts from southern Italy. Everything on the menu is made for sharing, and is best split between 2 to 4 people, depending on the dish. The pasta dish that we got was huge! We got the rigatoni with sausage and broccoli with red sauce. The taste was decent, but not earth shattering. The service was great! Both of our servers were very friendly and made sure we had a good time. Also, the restaurant is very nice and has a lot of space for parties of all sizes. Overall, I would recommend this place and would like to come back to try more of their entrees.

We were close by after a show. I was so hungry so this was perfect size. Family style size. We sat at the bar so service was fast but the chair sucked. The guy warned us it was going to be big. But perfect for my next 2 meals for the next two days. There's nothing special about here. Besides the portion of the food. And it not being terrible. I would come back here again.

The food at Carmine's was delectable. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which had a comforting, homemade taste. The service was excellent, with our attentive waiter checking in regularly. The ambiance was charming; sitting outside allowed us to enjoy people-watching and take in the view.

When you have good company you're bound to have a good time but when good food is added the place becomes an unforgettable memory. Parked across the street for 4 hours which costs $42 if you can't find street parking. Big Carmine's sign out front and our group of 8 was handled with care by each and every member of the staff. Spacious old school but not outdated atmosphere. Our waiter Jaime did his job well and had good recommendations. To start was the table bread and olive oil nothing special. The garlic bread with mozzarella cheese was bomb so order that to start your meal I give it an 8. Salad was delicious while there but sour the next day 5 out of 10. The cheese ravioli I prefer baked and to me lacked salt I give it a 5. The lemon chicken was fire the sauce and spinach was ooo la la I give it a 9. I do not eat shellfish but my family enjoyed.
